Maloca Community Garden @ York University

Directions: Between Finch Ave and Steels, just west of keel St. the garden is located near The Pond Road and Hoover Rd (in the York University Campus grounds)Direction into the campus grounds and driving directionsthe garden is accessible by car if you go west on The Pond road and turn onto Hoover road- do not turn into Hoover House, but walk through the field until you reach the garden.

It is believed that the garden was started in 1998 or 1999 and is located on University Campus land. It was moved when the university sold the land from the first garden about 8 years ago.

The garden is run by the University Students Club. Maloca is made up of young gardeners, most of whom have lots of energy and are eager to learn more about organic gardening in Toronto. We have a somewhat diverse membership, but English is the main language of communication.

We have Communal and Individual plots but the Majority of the garden area is communal plots with 12 individual plots. We grow mostly food plants with two flower beds and a few native plants mixed in.
