Oakvale Greens

Accessibility: This garden is fully accessible to people using wheelchairs, walkers and canes.

About this garden: This one acre community garden is made up of both communal and individual plots. Currently there are nine plots growing vegetables and herbs, and six growing native plants and shrubs. There are also ten fruit trees, with more planned. A native garlic patch Is also in the works.

Apart from ‘greening’ our urban landscape, one goal is to promote the “Square Foot” gardening Concept, a type of bio-intensive growing that allows any gardener to grow a lot of food in a small space – usually 8’x4’. This technique can be adapted for any environment, even parking lots!
